Session Description:
Cancer nanotechnology, a discipline at the intersection of engineering and the physical sciences with cancer biology and clinical practice, has the potential to radically alter patient outcomes. The field has undergone a wide expansion in the past five years, with nanomaterials being increasingly investigated for cooperative drug delivery systems, functional chemotherapeutics, gene therapy, and new and improved molecular imaging capabilities. Preparation of a cohort of researchers well-trained in both advanced technology and oncology is crucial to accelerating the translation of new technologies into the clinic and improving current standards of cancer care. This session will provide a forum for further discussion of novel training models for multidisciplinary research and development and will allow for sharing the experiences and lessons learned by the organizers and directors of successful training programs.
